Will be changed to accommodate AUing. The mobile cities are mostly an American phenomenom, being the place that was hit hardest by Second Impact. The Green Storm arose directly in response to that, rather than being an offshoot of a previously existing organization.
Personality: Oenone Zero is probably the complete opposite of most people's views of what a stalker surgeon-mechanic is like. Something of a shrinking violet, she's bookish and sweet, the kind of girl who if you brought her to meet your parents wouldn't just be welcomed but lavished with food (clearly she needs it, being quite small) and affection, which would only embarrass her more. She has a protective and nurturing streak that extends to humans, animals, sometimes even entire populations. This extends to her stalkers. Despite knowing that they're not actually alive or conscious in any way, she can't help but anthropomorphize them a little in her mind. The birds she treats as if they were ordinary pets.
But if you let that make you think she's a wimp, you'd be be wrong. She has a core of steely conviction to her. She values doing what's right but avoids pontificating and yelling about it. Instead she works quietly and determinedly for her goals. She doesn't show off or make hot blooded speeches. She does what she thinks is the right thing and steps out of the spotlight. She's completely comfortable around the dead and dying, losing none of her calm (or her lunch). Very compassionate to the wounded, she lets none of their distress infect her.
Considering everything she's been through, the things she had to do survive and the way The Green Storm basically stole her childhood, her ability to maintain this hopeful, trusting attitude is pretty amazing. She continues to have faith, in people, in her god and in the eventual idea that things will probably turn out at least somewhat OK, another testament to her strong will.
This natural reserve and her small size has led a lot of people to call her 'little sister', something she accepts with some embarrasment. On that subject, she holds the memory of her dead family very dear, almost sacredly. In her more private moments
she broods over and prays to them. Believing herself a devout Christian, she actually knows very little of the religion, though her natural niceness has led her to favor the love-thy-neighbor aspects over the burn-the-heretic aspects.
Capabilities and Resources: Zero's an exceptionally good surgeon-mechanic. On the surgeon side, this makes her the equivalent of a pre-med student, and an advanced engineer of prosthetics. She can stalkerize virtually any animal, living or dead, so long as most of its nervous system is intact.
Until she defects, she'll have the resources of the Green Storm to requisition if need be.
Robot Name: Stalker Squad
Robot Description: Five stalkers, the latest mass produced models, and elite Green Storm soldiers in life. Their inbuilt weapons are vibroclaws, capable of grasping onto and shearing off armor and giving them extraordinary climbing ability. They're also equipped with jump backpacks, discardable if need be. For combat at range, they can mount either heavy machine guns or RPG launchers for combat at range on shoulder mounts (the RPGs carrying a risk of ammunition explosion and having limited ammo, are used only against heavily armored targets). With their claws retracted, they can perform any task a human would at about 2/3 their level of coordination.
Much like a commander in an RTS game, Zero is capable of only ordering one stalker at a time or issuing very general orders.
Terrain Stats:
Land: A
Air: C
Sea: B
Space: D
Robot Name: Stalker Bird Squad
Robot Description: These are eight stalker birds of varying species who Zero keeps, treating them as if they were living pets. Unlike the human stalkers, these birds have mostly intact brains and thus behave mostly the same as they would in life. All are equipped with vibrotalons, which they generally keep off unless in battle.
They are:
-Wren
Role: Assassin/Music Player
Equipped with a dart gun capable of delivering poison. She never uses it for that purpose.
-Raven
Role: Messenger/Scout
Equipped with a transmitter, a vibrobeak and a minigun inside its mouth for defense.
-Chicken
Role: Comic Relief
Never a very smart animal to begin with, stalkerization has made it even stupider. Oenone stalkerized it out of pity.
-Crane
Role: Sniper
A stable platform and the ability to wait for hours for the perfect shot. A rifle replaces its beak. Another bird she finds distasteful to use for its intended purpose.
-Eagle 1 and 2
Role: Main Attack Units
More heavily armored than any other bird. Enlarged vibrotalons, beak miniguns and the ability to deliver grenades make them a threat to anything but the largest targets. A mated pair in life and now in unlife too.
-Condor
Role: Mini-Mothership, Refuelling Station, Sensor Boat
The largest bird, its long wingspan and vacuum cells allow it to soar for a long time, providing accurate aerial surveying and a platform for the smaller birds to rest.
Flagship Name: support airship Shortening Of The Way
Flagship Description: A vacuum airship, with the vacuum
embedded in aerogel, to reduce stress on the structure of the rigid envelope, enabling a relatively small envelope size for its weight. It has an interior cabin space of around 13 meters, enough to house the human and bird stalkers. The port corner is taken up by a lostech structure: a helmet, connected to a large computer bank. Wearing this helmet, Dr Zero can control her stalkers, as enumerated above. It can be parked in the air to allow her to do so without having to pilot. Also present is a full workstation for emergency doctoring/repairs of stalkers and humans.
Moderately armored but unarmed and barely as fast as White Chalice, it is intended to be kept away from direct confrontation. It instead relies on its stalkers and escorts for protection.
Terrain Stats:
Land: A (counting stalkers)
Air: B
Sea: D
Space: D
Upgrades:
Job: Mechanic (cyborgs, power armor), medic, stalker messenger, stalker commander when needed
Suggested Event List:
Red In Track And Jaw:
White Chalice answers Zero's distress call. She and her stalkers have been cut off from the rest of the Green Storm and are desperately trying to hold a battle line against the approaching traction city of Springwheeled, in order to defend a static town just behind them. The team drives the traction city off and Zero gratefully joins White Chalice until she can find a way back home.
StormHunters
Zero's decided that she wants to defect from the Green Storm and stay on White Chalice. Enraged, Stalker Fang throws an entire regiment of Green Storm troops at White Chalice to get her surgeon-mechanic back or failing that, kill her. Knowing she'll be targeted first, Zero is forbidden to leave the ship. With the help of a sympathetic player character though she escapes and while it looks like White Chalice is going to be overwhelmed, she surrenders to Stalker Fang. Brought up to her airship, she says the words that activates Stalker Grike's programming to kill Fang. With the Green Storm in disarray, the PCs can push them back and rescue Zero
Rolling Thunder:
The Traction City Confederation and The Green Storm are ready to negotiate a cease fire. However splinter elements in both factions want to sabotage the peace negotiations. The surviving Green Storm (most of whom blame Grike for Fang's death) have called on White Chalice to be neutral guardians of the talks. The crew has to intercept an attack aimed at the leaders of both sides (possibly orchestrated by another faction) before it can destroy any hope for peace.
Sample Post:
Doctor Oenone Zero knelt in the remains of the cockpit, squeezing the bleeding boy's hand. She'd witnessed the shot that felled him, a precisely aimed autocannon round that penetrated the relatively fragile glasstic protecting him (it fell in a brief shining rain on him), liquified his guts into a ruin the consistency of curry and severed his spinal cord. The crude mobile suit had toppled backward, never having stood a chance against White Chalice's elite pilots and machines. It was a good thing he was strapped into his chair. In places, the seatbelt was all that was holding him together.
She'd scrambled up the metal body on hearing his cries of pain and distress, thinking she could save him immediately. But his lower body said no, quite loudly. Bodies had a certain equilibrium that once upset could only rarely be regained. He wouldn't live another hour. Soon she'd have words with whatever asshole ace pilot had done this. But not yet.
So she'd listened to him, to his name and life story, gave him a shot for the pain. The fear and cold were encroaching on him and he'd gotten increasingly desperate. He said to tell his family he loved them. In an increasingly stammering, chattering voice he'd begged her not to let him die.
"I'll save you. I promise. I'll save you." She'd whispered to him over and over again until he began to lose consciousness, soul already preparing to go to the sunless country.
Then she called to her stalkers to bring her tools. She had no intention of breaking her promise.
